BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Officials are planning to review the cost of heating homes in Massachusetts.
The Department of Public Utilities announced an investigation to review all charges for customers in the Bay State.
"About time, long overdue," one local said.
The probe comes two months after Governor Maura Healy requested it, citing the steep climb in cost to heat homes last winter. According to the agency, the review will focus on the cause of the bill volatility for gas and electric customers, whether charges could be streamlined or eliminated, and if it's best to establish maximum limits on how much charges can increase for month to month. Some residents are skeptical.

"It's all just political talk. Ain't not going to do anything about it," one resident said.
For some residents every little bit counts.
"When you need that $150 in your pocket, that's when you notice it. Then technically, we are not even in the winter. Like January, February, March," another resident said.
