WEST ROXBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston City Councilor Kendra Lara was arraigned Wednesday in West Roxbury Municipal Court after an assistant clerk magistrate found probable cause on the charges she faces in connection with a June crash.

Authorities say she slammed her car into a Jamaica Plain home while driving twice the speed limit.

A plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf. The court ordered Lara not to drive without a license. She was released on her recognizance.

Lara is now also facing two additional charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle so as to endanger, and assault and battery on a child with injury. These charges are in addition to her existing charges including operating a motor vehicle after suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Lara said she has no plans to step down and will continue to represent the people of District 6.

She apologized to her constituents earlier this month.

Lara is scheduled to be back in court on August 16.
