PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Fishermen in the South Shore are making the most of the weather before Hurricane Lee keeps them ashore this weekend.
Even though the hurricane may not make landfall, Plymouth Harbormaster Chad Hunter warned anyone with a boat that they should not be on the water.
“Typically, if we have a hurricane, we’ll see surf and waves. Even if it tracks far east, we’ll have some impacts here out in the bay,” said Hunter.
As a result, many fishermen plan to remove their boats to avoid any damages, though fishermen Tucker Simonsen hope to maximize what could be the end of the fishing season.
“As a fisherman it’s going to make it tough to get out on the water, hard to make money. It’s going to change up all the bait patterns and fish patterns we’ve seen,” said Simonsen.
Hunter said they will continue to monitor the hurricane, but his biggest piece of advice was “don’t risk it.”
