Dorchester Residents Say Turkeys Are On The Attack

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A group of aggressive turkeys in Dorchester apparently aren't waiting around for Thanksgiving.

A submission to Boston's 311 complaint line said a group of five angry male turkeys went on the attack on Thursday, chasing people around the Ocean Street neighborhood.

The complaint said normal defense measures, like umbrellas and loud noises, did nothing to scare the turkeys off. There were about 15 in total.

"They actually appear to want to fight people," the resident reported. The neighborhood apparently had to band together and protect a mother with a stroller and a few elderly residents.

Aggressive turkeys have been a Greater Boston problem for years. Dorchester is far from the only place to feel the turkeys' wrath: a neighborhood in Woburn also dealt with a winged harasser just last month, which even forced one resident to stay inside to avoid them.
