Dorchester's Ayo Edebiri Scores Golden Globe Nomination For 'The Bear'

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Actress, writer, and comedian Ayo Edebiri is among the list of nominees for the 81st Golden Globe Awards.

Edebiri, who grew up in Dorchester and studied drama at Boston Latin School, scored a nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy for her role as Sydney on the critically acclaimed Hulu show "The Bear."

The role also recently earned her a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

In addition to "The Bear," Edebiri is known for starring in 2023 films "Bottoms" and "Theater Camp" and lending her voice to "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem."

She has also starred on Netflix's animated comedy series "Big Mouth" and served as a writer on the FX show "What We Do in the Shadows" and the Apple TV+ dramedy "Dickinson."

The 81st Golden Globe Awards air Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024 on CBS.
