PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Providence are investigating what they are calling a double homicide, after two bodies were discovered inside a car on Friday night.
According to officials, an Amtrak employee spotted the blue SUV parked on the train tracks near Harris Avenue around 7 p.m. Authorities found two bodies inside. They are still working to identify the victims, one of whom was a woman.
Although Providence Police Major David Lapatin did not disclose the manner of death, he said it is being treated as a double homicide due to the "way the interior of the vehicle looks."
A male person of interest was taken into custody on Friday evening.
This is a developing story.
