Measles is a highly contagious airborne disease that spreads when an infected person sneezes, coughs, or talks, allowing the virus to be inhaled by other people.
Initial symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes. After a few days, a rash develops on the skin, typically starting on the head and then moving down the body.
Mass DPH said anyone who begins to experience symptoms should call their healthcare provider before visiting an office, clinic, or emergency department.
