(WBZ NewsRadio) — Dr. Anthony Fauci has received praise from Americans far and wide for his steady demeanor in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, and now the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases finds his face as the center of our food-focused attention.
Donuts Delite in Rochester, New York has a new menu item with Dr. Fauci's face in the center.
"You know it started out as just a little thank you for our neighborhood," shop owner Nick Semeraro told WBZ NewsRadio. "And now it has gone nationwide."
Thanks to edible wafer paper, customers can purchase donuts with the image of Dr. Fauci on the outside, and buttercream frosting on the inside.
The shop has already sold thousands of their Fauci Doughnut to customers in a number of different cities and states, and says they will keep making them as long as the demand keeps up.
"We've been baking a lot," said Semeraro. "We've been baking through the night... getting shipped all over the country, to different states. It has gone crazy."
