BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Cloudy and rainy skies have Boston feeling a lot more like Ireland, which feels appropriate as many braved the weather to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Patrons lined the front of The Black Rose, a prominent Boston Irish pub, as early as 6:30 a.m. Monday, waiting to flood into the restaurant as soon as doors opened at 8 a.m. Some people, like Corey and Brian, wasted no time getting started on the festivities.
“It’s a little more like Ireland today, why not?” Corey said.
“[I’m getting] a full Irish breakfast and a pint of Guinness,” said Brian.

The Black Rose has gained some national attention as well, according to a couple who landed at Logan Airport and traveled straight to the pub.
“We’re Irish, I lived in Ireland a couple years, there’s no better time to be here,” the couple said.
A common theme among celebrators was meeting old and new friends, which is the plan for Jim and Debbie from Haverhill.
“Pick a good Irish pub like these places here, and again we’ve been meeting people here, friends and people that we just see once a year,” Jim said.
“It’s a nice tradition, everybody’s having a good time, everybody’s happy, and everybody’s getting along.”
