Investigators Recover Drone Spotted Over Fenway Park During Game

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — There was quite a buzz Thursday night at Fenway Park—and it wasn't because of what was happening on the field.

According to Boston Police, the drone that was seen flying overhead during the late innings of the Red Sox' win over the Blue Jays — hovering fairly low over the action — has been recovered. The individual responsible has been identified as a juvenile.

The drone wasn't just a huge distraction at the game — flying a drone around large stadium events is a violation of FAA regulations.

"We want to send a clear-cut message to everyone: There is no authorized flying of drones over any major events at all," Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said. "The FAA doesn't allow it. BPD, State Police, we don't want that to take place."

Boston Police said they got the first call about the drone at 9:50 p.m. The incident is still under investigation.
