BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The arrival of spring in the city is marked by opening day at Fenway Park, blooming flowers, and, of course, the return of duck tours.
The historic staples, which have carried championship teams, returned to the streets of Boston on Friday, with the first tour at 9 am. The boat trucks first appeared during World War II when troops used them to transport supplies, artillery, and soldiers. Now, these colorful vessels carry tourists and Bostonians across the city, showcasing local attractions like the Massachusetts State House and Quincy Market before sailing off into the Charles River.

Stationed at three locations in the city, the boats accommodate more than 520,000 people each season.
Tour guides, also known as ConDUCKtors, provide a narrated historic tour of Boston on 28 different boats, each with its own Boston-centric name and theme.
Interested visitors have until November to purchase tickets online or in person for a chance to board one of the iconic boats.
