Dueling BLM Protests In Mansfield Sunday

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A crowd of protestors holding Blue Lives Matter signs in support of police were met Sunday with Black Lives Matter counter-protesters across a busy street in Mansfield.

Surrounding both groups near Mansfield North Common Sunday afternoon were Mansfield police officers, who local resident Liane said she came to support.

"Mansfield Police Department is amazing and they deserve our support after months of being disrespected," she said. "And I'm sure they're very downtrodden about the way they've been treated."

Liane said she supports Black Lives Matter too. But counter-protestor Phoebe told WBZ NewsRadio that known-members of the Nationalist Social Club were on the Blue Lives Matter's side, so she said Liane was standing side by side with neo-nazis.

"Folks may be over there thinking 'Oh, I'm just here to support the police,'" she said. "But what they end up doing is rallying in support of white supremacist genocidal messaging and policies."
