BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Dunkin’ has announced that it will no longer charge extra for non-dairy milk starting next month.
The coffee chain adds on fees for dairy alternatives like almond milk and oat milk, and has even been hit with lawsuits over the rule, claiming it’s discriminatory to those who are lactose intolerant.
Starbucks stopped charging for non-dairy milk in October, after it was also hit with a suit.
The change at Dunkin’ goes into effect March 5.
“There are people who don’t have the ability to drink cow’s milk, so I think it’s great,” said one local Dunkin’ customer.
Some customers weren’t even aware of the added fees for their non-dairy coffees.
“I had no idea. But I guess now I’ll save a couple extra dollars,” said another local customer.
Dunkin’ said the change was brought on by guest feedback.
