Elderly Man In Wheelchair Killed After Being Struck By Car In Quincy

QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Quincy say an elderly man in a wheelchair was killed after being struck by a car on Quincy Avenue Saturday night.

Authorities said James Bouchie, 72, was project from the wheelchair at the time of the crash. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

The suspect has been identified as 78-year-old David Bowering, of Quincy.

He was arrested and charged with his fifth OUI offense. Bowering was arraigned on Monday, and is currently being held on a dangerousness hearing on Friday.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Bouchie," Quincy Police said in a statement.
