LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The second annual Lynn Pizza Challenge is underway with eleven pizza parlors competing for the title of best slice.

The event is being held by Lynn Main Streets, and the general public can purchase a $5 ticket to participate in taste testing and voting. Participating voters have the chance to win one of three $50 gift cards to their favorite pizza shop. An estimated 500 people bought tickets for last year's challenge.

When asked what makes a good pizza slice, Lynn residents had mixed opinions. "The crispiness of it, and load it with toppings," one said. "Chewy crust and sauce that isn't super sweet," said another. They seem to also be split on which pizza parlor is the best, some answers included: Mandee's, Caruso's, Alfredo's, and Enzo's.

Enzo's Pizzeria won the title of best slice last year and will be defending their title against 10 others during this year's challenge. The full list of participating pizza places: Alfredo's Italian Kitchen, Caruso's Pizza, Enzo's Pizzeria, Fauci's Pizza, George's Roast Beef & Pizza, Giovanni's Pizza & Roast Beef, Mandee's Pizza, Nick's Pizza, Nickey's Pizza, Papa Jack's, Papi Vivi Sandwich, Pizza Lovers, Superior Roast Beef & Seafood

The challenge will take place for one week starting Oct. 6 and ending Oct. 13, votes must be cast by Oct. 20.

Addresses of participating pizza places and other information is available here.
