FRANKLIN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – Some customers at a busy breakfast spot south of Boston will not be able to get a popular kind of bagel anymore.

Elizabeth’s Bagels in Franklin will no longer be making poppy seed bagels because the seeds keep falling off them.

“[It] wasn’t something we could fix,” said Owner Jennifer Garcia. “So, we decided that if we can’t put it out as a good product right now and make people happy, we’re going to stop making it.”

Garcia added the bakery has received many complaints, with some people accusing the shop of skimping out on the number of seeds that they’ve been putting on the popular bagels.

“Poppy seeds are such a minor thing to save a buck off of so for someone to think we maybe would cheap out and sprinkle less poppy seeds was kind of insulting to us.”

Garcia thinks the unsettling seeds could be a vendor-related problem caused by supply chain issues. To try and appease their "hangry" customers, the shop is looking for a new poppy product.

“We’ll definitely make a big announcement on Facebook when the poppy seed bagels are back.”
