BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two of the higher-profile names in the country are feuding over taxes. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren commented on Elon Musk's recent crowning as TIME Magazine's Person of the Year on Monday, saying that the national tax code should be changed so Musk would "actually pay taxes and stop freeloading off everyone else."
Musk responded by saying Warren was "projecting," and linking to an opinion article calling her a fraud for touting Native American ancestry.
He then said Warren "remind[s] me of when I was a kid and my friend’s angry Mom would just randomly yell at everyone for no reason," saying "Please don’t call the manager on me, Senator Karen." Musk is the second richest person on earth, according to Forbes.
The spat is just the latest in an ongoing feud between billionaires and progressives in congress. House Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash) also called for Musk to pay more in taxes on Monday, and other progressive members have made taxing the super-wealthy a key talking point.
