EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Encore Boston Harbor casino opened Sunday morning in Everett.
Thousands lined up outside the casino hours before the opening at 10 a.m.
Many gamblers waited for hours in Everett. One man, Glenn Reynolds, waited in line for the casino for 17 hours.
"We’ve been watching this casino go up for a couple of years. And I think this is a great thing for the community, actually cleaned up Everett," one woman who attended the casino on Sunday said. "This is a gambling state, I was told by my dad years ago. And I think it’s fantastic, it really is. It’s beautiful.”
Encore Boston Harbor is the first major casino in Eastern Massachusetts.
