BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MBTA announced on Wednesday that it will shut down the E Branch of the Green Line for the second year in a row this August.

Construction on the line will run from August 2 to the 29 — practically the same schedule as last year. The service will be replaced by buses during the repairs. The Authority is framing the work as "accelerated construction," taking place under the Green Line Transformation program, which will replace 20-year-old track and pavement, as well as other improvements.

The MBTA said last year's month-long repairs accomplished a year of work in 28 days, and this year's closure is taking a similar approach.

A public meeting to talk about the closure and repairs will be held on July 14, at 6 PM.
