Ernie Boch Jr. Leaves Salisbury Waitress $5000 Tip

SALISBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Billionaire Ernie Boch Jr. surprised a waitress at a Salisbury restaurant this weekend when he left her a $5000 tip.

Jennifer Navaria was nearing the end of her shift at the Seaglass Restaurant on Saturday night when she served Boch and three others at one of her tables.

Boch's party paid the bill and left the restaurant. As Navaria started clearing the table, she took a closer look at her tip.

"I looked down and thought oh $50 that’s nice," Navaria told WBZ-TV. "On $157, that’s nice. I kind of looked again at the slip. It said 'Donnie your move.' I really had to look at the bottom line; that’s when I was shaking."

Boch's $5000 tip and message was inspired by the 2020 Tip Challenge, a social media viral campaign that inspires people to leave larger gratuities for servers. In January, actor Donnie Wahlberg left a $2020 tip to an IHOP server.

Navaria posted the bill on Facebook, writing "Thank you Ernie Boch for your amazing generosity! You certainly made a job I really enjoy that much better."
