ESPN Broadcaster Doris Burke Will Make History At TD Garden Tonight

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Tonight, at TD Garden, broadcast history will be made by a woman who is no stranger to Boston. She is longtime ESPN reporter Doris Burke who will soon become the first woman to serve as color commentator for an NBA finals game.  

Burke will be sitting alongside sports commentator Mike Breen. Burke is no stranger to the Boston area and has strong New England roots, she was a starring player at Providence College during her college career playing point guard and has kept her roots in Rhode Island ever since.

According to her official college stats during her playing career, Burke averaged 17.6 points and 7.2 assists per game.  

Burke has worked for ESPN as a commentator for decades starting in 1990.
