FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Just a few days remain until Tom Brady takes the field at Gillette Stadium for the first time in two years. This time, it won't be wearing a Patriots jersey.
Tom Brady and the Buccaneers will face off against the Patriots in prime time on Sunday night in one of the most hotly-anticipated games of the season. Brady had nothing but good things to say about his former coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots in a media appearance on Thursday:
"He's a great coach...He was a great mentor for me for a long time, and I really enjoyed my time in New England," he said. "I know all those guys, they're some of my great friends, they will be for the rest of my life."
Brady later clarified that it would be great to see everyone after the game, but his head was still all-in on winning. "They know I want to kick their butt this week," he said.
Reaction to Brady's return has been mixed, with some fans wishing the quarterback luck, and others saying if he's on the other sideline Patriots fans should be rooting for him to lose, six rings or not.
"When he comes to our house now, it's not his house anymore, so I don't want him to win," One fan told WBZ's James Rojas. Another fan, Kevin, was wearing a Patriots sweater but rooting for Brady to win because of the pay cuts he took to benefit the team during his tenure.
Anticipation for the game has reached new heights, regardless of who fans want to win: the cheapest tickets available on StubHub as of early Friday morning cost $400, all told.
