BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Millions of people are expected to travel during Fourth of July weekend.

This year’s busiest days will be Tuesday, July 1 through Monday, July 7, with peak volume to be on Sunday, July 6.

TSA officials said they expect to screen more than 18.5 million people over the holiday weekend.

TSA Acting Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill is urging travelers “to pack their patience, especially during peak travel days, as we work to provide maximum hospitality to our customers.”

Meanwhile, AAA is estimating more than 72.2 million travelers for the upcoming weekend, with a record of 61.6 million people hitting the roads.

They say the best time to drive July 1-4 is any time before 12 p.m. and any time before 11 a.m. from July 5-6.

AAA is also recommending road-trippers schedule car maintenance before traveling. Last year, the agency said they responded to more than 700,000 emergency assistance calls.

According to AAA, the top domestic destinations for the Fourth of July are Orlando, Seattle, and New York City, and top international destinations are Vancouver, Rome, and Paris.
