BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The first nor'easter of the season is here and experts want residents to take the necessary precautions.

The storm is expected to drop around two to six inches of rain on much of Eastern New England. The majority of the storm will be on Tuesday into Wednesday night. WBZ's Drew Moholland spoke with Rodney Chai of the National Weather Service about what residents can expect from the storm.

The main concerns stemming from the storm are flooding along the coast and large wind gusts that could cause power outages and other damage. Chai said wind gusts could get up to as high as 60 to 70 miles per hour. He said the worst of these will come overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Chai also said to expect minor coastal flooding due to a large amount of rain Monday and the rain expect over the next two days.

"Overall I don't expect it to be a widespread flooding event," Chai said. "But we have seen quite a bit of rain in the last 24 to 48 hours. Some of the creeks and streams may not take much more and that's something to also watch as well."

He said although the flooding would be minor, that doesn't mean it's nothing to worry about. Some areas could still see about a half of a foot to a foot of flooding.
