BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — First responders and hazmat teams are responding to an explosion at a paper mill in Jay, Maine. Despite earlier reports of multiple injuries, local reports now say there are "no injuries" at the mill.
"Maine State Police originally stated there were multiple injuries and that Life Flight had been dispatched," WGME reports. "However, the owners of the mill later told state police there were no injuries and no deaths."
The explosion happened shortly after noon on Wednesday. Video of the incident shows a black plume shooting into the air and debris falling onto the cars on the surrounding streets.
