BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A fall nor'easter is bearing down on eastern New England, and could end up dropping up to six inches of rain by the time it's all over. The worst of the storm will be on Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday, when rain and wind gusts will reach their peak.
The National Weather Service is putting a Flood Watch in place for most of Massachusetts outside of the Berkshires and the Cape, which will last until 8:00 PM Wednesday. Four to six inches of rain are expected over wide chunks of Greater Boston between the city and Worcester through Wednesday morning.
Cape Cod is set to see the worst wind, but a High Wind Watch will be in place from the North Shore south along I-95, through the Islands and Narragansett Bay until Wednesday afternoon. Wind gusts in the worst areas could top out at 60 miles per hour and the Service said power outages are likely. Metro Boston will see wind gusts up to around 40 miles per hour.
The last of the storm will finally depart the area on Wednesday night.
