FALL RIVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — State Police and Bristol County prosecutors are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened on Monday night.

The Bristol County D.A.'s office said Fall River Police responded to a domestic violence call just past 5:00 PM on Monday night — a female caller told police her boyfriend, who she identified as Anthony Harden, had assaulted her on Saturday.

Fall River Police then went to Harden's apartment on Melville Street, and were let into the apartment. The details are sparse on exactly what happened next, but the Bristol County D.A.'s office said there was a fight between Harden and the officers on scene. One of the officers fired their gun twice at one point, hitting Harden. He was rushed to St. Anne's Hospital, but later died. The D.A. said a knife was found at the scene.

Speaking to WBZ-TV, Harden's family said they wanted more answers about what happened. His brother Carl told the station he was remembered as an artist and a free thinker, and the family insisted that Anthony was not a violent or aggressive person.
