FALMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – Police have found the car believed to be involved in a hit and run crash on Cape Cod that left a Framingham man dead.

Falmouth police said they located a vehicle believed to have been involved in the crash along Grand Avenue in Falmouth Heights that killed 81-year-old Michael Leis of Framingham.

Leis was walking with a group of people on a sidewalk when the car reportedly went off the road and struck him at a high rate of speed last Friday night.

Police also said the investigation revealed a person of interest that may have been driving the car at the time of the crash.

That person’s identity is being withheld at this time as well as the make and model of the suspect car. Authorities have only described the car as being a red or dark colored sedan that rides low to the ground.

The car is said to have heavy windshield damage and other serious front-end damage.

Leis' obituary indicated he was an electrical engineer for more than 40 years and held more than 30 original patents in hard drive technology.

The investigation is ongoing.
