Faneuil Hall And Quincy Marketplace Reopen

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston's Faneuil Hall and Quincy Marketplace are back open for business, after being closed for months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, street artists and musicians marked the occasion with performances to welcome the public back.

While some of the restaurants and stores around the marketplace reopened more than a week ago, they said they haven't received the same amount of foot traffic as before COVID-19.

"I think it's great, I think we're ready to do it," Luke Provost of Salty Dog told WBZ NewsRadio. "People that came back in, they seemed to be very comfortable. Seemed like they felt very welcome."

There are distance markers on the floors, and specific entrance and exit signs inside Faneuil Hall and Quincy Marketplace, to ensure proper social distancing as the crowds return.

Faneuil Hall's hours will also be adjusted for July; Monday-Thursday it will be open 10am-7pm, Friday-Saturday 10am-8pm, and Sunday 11am-6pm. Some individual stores and restaurants may remain open later.
