BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With Halloween now over, the holiday season is officially in full swing at Faneuil Hall in Boston as their official Christmas tree of the season was delivered Wednesday.

The 50-foot-tall Norway spruce tree was taken from a family farm in Cadillac, Michigan which is in the northern part of the state and is located three hours outside of Detroit.

The tree took 25 years to grow to its full height and will be decorated with 900 ornaments and a mile of sparkling lights later this month.

Although no Christmas decorations have been put up just yet, crews were preparing to put the massive tree on display with the help of some cranes.

“Over the next couple of days Egan Acres Farm will build the tree using the branches from two other trees, so they make it look picture perfect,” said Faneuil Hall marketing manager Nina Pelegrini.

Pelegrini was responsible for the welcoming party that was put on for the tree’s delivery that featured hot chocolate, holiday pastries and some live music.

“[I love] all the smiles, definitely the energy rubbed off on me and I don’t know it just felt like the holiday spirit,” said singer Kayleigh.

The tree arrival and welcoming party brought many spectators, one of whom was Molly from Arlington who was ready for the holiday season as she sported a festive Santa hat and spoke about her excitement.

“This is my first time seeing it put up and seeing the process of it, [it’s] quite the work their putting in, it makes it more magical,” she said.

The lighting ceremony is free for the public and is set to take place on Saturday, November 22nd.
