Firefighters Battle 6-Alarm Fire At Multi-Family Homes In Dorchester

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A massive fire tore through two multi-family homes on Ellington Street in Dorchester Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.

The Boston Fire Department responded to the fire at 21 Ellington St. around 4 p.m. The fire quickly spread to 19 Ellington St., the department said.

Thick black smoke filled the sky as crews battled the blaze, which became a six-alarm fire by 4:20.

At 4:30, the department said the fire had been knocked down. There was significant damage to both buildings.

Fire officials have not said if anyone was injured in the fire.
