Firefighters Rescue A Stuck Raccoon In Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Cambridge Fire Department rescued a trapped raccoon after its head got stuck in a storm drain grate on Harvey Street on Thursday, Aug. 1.

Several firefighters, along with other city service members, strategized and worked together to safely free the critter from its predicament.

Cambridge Animal Control was also on site assisting in the rescue and release of the animal, as well as Public Works, Tech Services, and Fire Prevention.

After successfully freeing the raccoon’s head from the grate, officials said they released it back to the wild.

The Cambridge Fire Department even posted on X to thank a good Samaritan who supplied the team with olive oil to help with the rescue.
