First Responders Fight Fire At Freetown Recycling Plant

FREETOWN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Authorities responded to an early morning fire at a recycling plant in Freetown Sunday.

The fire began around 6:40 a.m. after heavy smoke was reported near the Assonet Industrial Park, according to Freetown Police.

It was later discovered the fire had started at the Excel Recycling Plant on Ridge Hill Road.

Police said explosions were also reported.

There's been no word on any injuries.
