BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — After December 2023 recorded some of the least snowfall in the history of Boston, January is expected to start the new year with a bang.
The first winter storm of 2024 is forecasted to hit New England this weekend, bringing plowable snow, wind, and rain to the region and impacting travel.
AccuWeather says the storm will start on the West Coast during the week, before gaining strength and moving into New England Saturday night into Sunday.
As of Wednesday, AccuWeather says to expect 4-8 inches of snow for Boston and nearby suburbs, with higher amounts farther inland where there is less mix-in with rain. Areas along the South Coast and Cape and Islands could see more rain at times, with lesser amounts of snow.
More accurate snowfall totals will become available as the storm approaches, AccuWeather notes.
