FITCHBURG, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The suspect in a decade-old cold case murder out of Fitchburg pleaded not guilty on Thursday morning. State prosecutors with the Worcester County D.A.'s Office say Alberto Sierra Jr. of Fitchburg killed five-year-old Jeremiah Oliver in 2013.

He was ordered held without bail at his arraignment in Worcester Superior Court on Thursday. Sierra was the boyfriend of Jeremiah's mother Elsa Oliver, both of whom were sentenced to about 7 years in prison on child abuse and assault charges in 2017.

Jeremiah Oliver lived with his mother in Fitchburg at the time of his disappearance. His body was discovered in 2014 in a suitcase off I-190, months after his disappearance.

The state Medical Examiner declared Oliver's death a homicide in 2014, but could not determine exactly how he was killed.

The D.A's office said Sierra would appear back in court on May 25.
