BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As the government shutdown continues on for a record-breaking 41 days, folks flying out of Logan Airport are still dealing with numerous cancelled and delayed trips.

Austin from Kanas was flying out of Boston with his girlfriend and their travel had been smooth so far, despite their trip being affected by the shutdown.

“Was hoping we could do the things we wanted to do, we were trying to do some of the Freedom Trail and stuff like that, a lot of federal stuff is closed sadly, but airport wise it’s been fine so far,” Austin said.

This didn’t prevent travel anxiety from affecting them during their stay, however, as monitoring the flight details was baked into their trip.

“Relax during the day, at night go check the emails and worry a little more,” he said.

Another traveler flying out from Logan was feeling cautiously optimistic about his trip.

“Just a little extra anxiety, but I took the MBTA here, I’m here within an hour of my flight, so far so good, so luck is shining,” he said.

Dennis from Atlanta was waiting for his girlfriend to fly in from a multi-connection trip. He said that everything had been going smoothly, but that hadn’t kept his mom and him from being anxious.

Dennis was excited to hear about the shutdown potentially ending soon.

“I’m excited about it, because things have been a little hectic and also the uncertainty is kind of scary for everybody, so yeah I’m really excited about it.”

Over 10,000 flights were cancelled nationwide on Sunday, Nov. 10, which was the highest of the shutdown so far.
