BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Flight delays and cancellations at Logan Airport are a tale as old as time during this busy holiday travel season.
As of Saturday afternoon, hundreds of flights were delayed and dozens were cancelled at Logan, according to FlightAware.
Patrick’s flight to London was one of them. “My first one kept getting delayed and then eventually got canceled,” he told WBZ NewsRadio.
He’s now on a flight with two layovers in Detroit and Amsterdam, hoping the long travel day will be worth it. “Questioning it [now], but, yeah, it will be once I’m there,” he continued.
For Kirsten, she is actually relieved her flight to New Orleans got delayed 30 minutes after a late night out. She’s still has to wait in the long security line, though. “Hoping it would be easy but it’s very long,” she said.
Airports are not the only one encountering congestions. AAA estimates a record-breaking travel weekend starting Friday, with in early 119.3 million people expected to hit the road and the busiest time being this weekend.
MassDot said they anticipate less traffic than a normal work week during the week of Christmas.
“I think if you just leave enough time for flying then that alleviates a lot of stress especially this time of year,” Nicole said.
