Flood, Severe Storm Warnings In Eastern Massachusetts Sunday

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Isolated thunderstorms are expected across parts of Massachusetts Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS Boston issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning Sunday for Lowell, Lawrence and Haverhill until 4:45 p.m., and in Cambridge, Newton, and Somerville until 5:15 p.m., with the possibility of winds up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail.

A Special Marine Warning was also issued Sunday for the Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay, the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, Massachusetts Bay and Ipswich Bay until 5:30 p.m.

Shortly after 4 pm., NWS also issued a Flood Warning for Western Essex County Sunday afternoon, and reminded residents "if you encounter flooded roadways, turn around, don't drown!"
