MILTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Former Boston Bruins player Jimmy Hayes has died at the age of 31.
According to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office, his death is considered not suspicious. Officials called this an unattended death.
He was found Monday morning inside his Milton home.
The cause of his death is still under investigation by the medical examiner's office. Hayes was also a Boston College hockey standout and is a Dorchester native.
He played in the NHL from 2011 to 2018 and played for four different teams including the Bruins from 2015 to 2017.
In a statement, BC Hockey said "Boston College Hockey is heartbroken over the passing of Jimmy Hayes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Hayes family."
