BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With the national baseball scene at a standstill, U.S Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh offered his assistance on Monday to the Major Baseball League and the Players Association in forming a new collective bargaining agreement.
"I have spoken to both the MLBPA and MLB about the ongoing contract negotiations and encourage both sides to continue engagement. Like any contract negotiation in any industry, I stand ready to help facilitate productive conversations that result in the best outcome for workers and employers," Walsh said.

Last week, the MLBPA declined a request from the MLB to assign a third party mediation from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.
