BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A former New England Patriots running back was carried off the field in an ambulance with a neck injury on Sunday.
During Sunday Night Football, Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris took a hit from New York Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke. Both teams quickly signaled for training staff, as Harris was unable to get up.
While assessing the injury, the entire Bills team surrounded Harris. Fortunately, he gave a thumbs-up when being placed in the ambulance.
After the game, Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott said it was his understanding that Harris “had full movement.”
“The game becomes secondary to the care and the well-being of the player lying on the field at that point. It’s not a good thing to have to go through, but [we’re] fortunate that he’s seemingly heading in a good direction with the reports that we’re getting,” said McDermott.
Harris was drafted by the Patriots in 2019. He spent his first four seasons in New England before signing with the Bills this past offseason.
