FOXBORO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — They say lightning never strikes the same place twice, but former New England Patriot Julian Edelman's Tweets for April Fools' Day sure do.

On Friday, the former wide receiver posted a photo of himself next to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo, with the words "Buccaneers signing Julian Edelman." But the retired Patriot did not leave his followers hanging and added a bit of tiny text that read "April fools."

"Onto the next chapter," Edelman captioned with the pirate flag emoji.

Last year, Edelman tweeted a GIF of Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, implying a potential move to the Buccaneers. But again, Edelman reiterated that the Tweet was an April Fools' joke.
