Gray’s visit was intended to remind students of the importance of staying in school.
“We want to focus on getting students in school and with great attendance,” Gray said.
As part of the visit, Gray showed off his Super Bowl ring to Blackstone Elementary School students to remind them of what can be achieved when they work hard in class.
This is part of the Patriots “Adopt-A-School" program which, according to a press release, was created to expand access to education opportunities and improve learning experiences for students.
“When [kids] show up [to school], we know that they are going to be able to learn more," Gray told WBZ NewsRadio. “They’re going to be in class and not out in the streets or anything like that.”
Gray also emphasized how much school has benefited him in his career success.
“Education has played such a big part in what I do now owning my own business and working with athletes," Gray said. “I want to be able to pass along to the next generation what it meant to me.”
“Any way that we can engage our students to come to school every day is a win for us,” Blackstone principal Courtney Sheppeck said.
The Patriots “Adopt-A-School" program was launched in 2023.
