Former Patriots Player Takes Cancer Patients And Families On Boat Ride

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Cancer patients and their families had the opportunity to go for a ride on “Codzilla” in Boston Harbor on Friday.

Three-time Super Bowl champion and former Patriots player Joe Andruzzi hosted the event and greeted families before they boarded the boat.

The Andruzzi Foundation teamed up with Boston Harbor City Cruises to provide an escape for cancer patients like Lauri Shavot and their families.

“They were so excited. We didn’t tell them until we got here, and then they saw Codzilla and my oldest got really excited to see it,” Shavot said.

Lauri also told WBZ NewsRadio that the Andruzzi Foundation has been a huge financial help for her family, especially since she stopped working.

WBZ NewsRadio also spoke to David Coffin of Boston Harbor City Cruises about how it's almost impossible to not smile while riding Codzilla.

“I mean it’s just the wind factor that makes your mouth go wide, especially if it’s open!” Coffin said while laughing.

Jeff from Foxborough, who has stage four salvatory gland cancer, is among those hopping aboard for a day of fun.

“My youngest boy went on [Codzilla] a long time ago and he said it's fascinating, and that it’s a once in a lifetime thing, something that you will always remember,” Jeff said.

This is the 13th year that the Andruzzi Foundation partnered with Boston Harbor City Cruises to make this event possible.
