Franklin Police Investigating First Homicide In More Than 20 Years

FRANKLIN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Franklin Police are reporting the city’s first murder in more than 20 years.

Around 12:45 a.m. Thursday, police received a call about a person being shot on Elwood Road. At the scene, officers found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim, identified as Deandre Akeem Scott, of Attleboro, was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

So far, no arrests have been made. Authorities are investigating and do not believe there is any danger to the public.

“This is the first incident of this type in Franklin since 1997,” Police Chief Thomas J. Lynch said. “Franklin remains a safe community, and the public should have no worries in sending their children to school today.”
