Free Bluebike Rides For MBTA Red Line Riders Amid Week Long Closure

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and the city of Boston are offering free Bluebike rides during the MBTA Red Line closure.

To unlock the free bikes, enter the code MBTAREDNOV18 in the rewards section of the Bluebikes app.

The code is good for five, 30-minute rides only during the week long closure.

The credit is available in 13 communities: Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Watertown.

Red Line trains between Harvard and Broadway have been replaced with free shuttle buses until Nov. 23 and extends to JFK/UMass on Sunday, Nov. 24.

This closure is to address slow zone and other maintenance works as part of the city’s Track Improvement Plan

Meanwhile, the MBTA Commuter Rail is also offering free fares between Porter Square and North Station as well as between Braintree and South Station.
