REVERE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Residents can get help keeping mosquitoes off their property in Revere, Mass.
According to the state’s Department of Public Health, there have been 31 positive samples of West Nile Virus detected in mosquitoes in 2025. Revere Public Health Director Lauren Beck said mosquitoes can be particularly bad in the city.
“We sit on a marsh, so we have a mosquito population in our city that’s probably worse than other cities that don’t have the geographic location that we do,” said Beck.
She said several residents have been taking advantage of free weekly spraying to keep the pests away.
“Every summer from June to September, the City of Revere partners with Northeast Massachusetts Mosquito Control and Wetlands Management District to bring mosquito spraying and mosquito population control to the City of Revere,” said Beck.
Each week, between Sundays at 7:00 a.m. and Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m., those who own a property or have permission from their landlord can submit a request to have their property sprayed. In addition, all of Revere’s public parks and fields are treated on a regular basis during the summer.
