FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A funeral was held Tuesday for fallen Braintree K-9 Kitt at Gillette Stadium. The police dog was brought there during a funeral procession.

Kitt was killed earlier this month when Braintree officers responded to a domestic violence incident.

Hundreds of police officers and members of the community lined the streets to honor Kitt during the funeral procession. The Boston Police Gaelic Column of Pipes and Drums also marched to Gillette before the procession carrying Kitt arrived.

“Kitt is a big hero because he saved the cops’ lives,” one young girl said. She came to the procession with her mom and siblings.

Attendance at the funeral was limited to uniformed public safety personnel and invited guests.
