Gabrielle Thomas, Northampton Native, Wins Bronze At Tokyo Olympics

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Gabrielle Thomas, Northampton native and Harvard University graduate, has won a bronze medal in the women's 200-meter sprint at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

She came in third in the race at 21.87 seconds. Elaine Thompson-Herah, of Jamaica, came in first at 21.53 seconds. Christine Mboma, of Namibia, came in second at 21.81 seconds.

Thomas grew up in Northampton and graduated from The Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Mass. in 2015.

She graduated from Harvard University with a degree in neurobiology. Thomas is currently working toward a master's degree in epidemiology.

Thomas was also named Ivy League's Most Outstanding Track Performer in 2017 and 2018.
