WHITMAN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A gas leak in Whitman Wednesday morning has been declared safe.
The leak happened on Route 18 between Auburn Street and Glen Street around 10:30 a.m. Authorities closed that section of the route.
National Grid said the incident happened after a third party contractor struck a gas main.
There were not any reported injuries or evacuations.
Police officers and the Whitman Fire Department were on the scene. Although the area is safe, repairs still need to be made.
